The Wish List #4, Bang ...

So I was sitting around contemplating once again the meaning of existence with all my buddies, and the time old tradition of nostalgia and dreams came up. This particular delve into our past brought up a very good conversation that I love to have. What were our dream cars as we were growing up? Now we all have our lists, but this subject really struck a note in my mind. My list has changed, switched, and rather grown substantially as I’ve gotten older and it’s only bound to keep getting bigger and bigger. So I thought to myself, where did it all begin? When was the first time I went “wow, I want to drive that.” Honestly I can’t remember, however I can give you some insight on my list. Every week I will reveal a car, fictional or real that I would love to own and drive, I’ll give you my take on it, and feel free to comment about what you think. So let’s start our tale with a classic that I thought would rock the road.
Yes your eyes do not deceive you; in fact one of my earliest memories were about owning and driving my own Flinstones mobile. Now what drew me and countless others to this unorthodox vehicle? Was it the open cockpit, the massive stone rollers, the idea that Fred and Barney could score some hot cartoon wives because of this thing, or simply the thought of pumping your legs down the highway would be fun? My initial thought when it came to this car was the mechanics; this car could fly down the road at top speeds all by the sheer power of Fred’s big feet. This car also had the magic powers that you would expect in cartoon land. It could magically go from a 4 seater passenger car, to a two seater coupe or convertible faster than you can say Yaba Daba Doo. Notice the plush stone interior, the custom rag top and the way cool wooden body.
Now that I’m physically older, not quiet mentally I can see that this choice in auto industry would have been very inconvenient. Seeing as the sheer power it would take to get this car to speeds depicted in Bedrock would require a massive drove of force probably only capable in the legs of an elephant. And the mechanics of the turning mechanism, after all it was a stone roller on two stick. I mean seriously how did this thing turn, the weight of this car would have amassed to a few tons. Although being a very cool looking car and probably the greenest car you’ll ever own, it’s just not practical in the real world. Still that hasn’t stopped people from trying to replicate it. Hey strap a V8 on one, give it a decent turning radius and some sort of seat belt, and believe me I’d be the first to want to drive it. I mean come on chicks dig guys in hot cars; you’ve seen Betty and Wilma. What are your thoughts, let me here your take on bedrocks most famous auto.
