The Wish List #3, ...

This week I’m taking it back, way back, so far back that my father would actually have fonder memories of this fabulous contraption than I would. As a matter of fact he’s the one who actually introduced me to my next wish list wip. This is the one and only, Disney’s original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
I’m sure some of you out there are wondering what the hell a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is. Well its really nothing I can pinpoint. It starts out as a wrecked racing car and is turned into a thing of magical beauty. The whole premise was to make it appealing to children; I mean come on it is Disney after all. Anyway, the car was transformed into this crazy contraption that not only got the family around, but also floated and flew. Yes, the early Disney imaginers created a magical flying car with nothing more than a few cloth wings that came out the sides and front.
My earliest memories of this car were with my dad and how he explained that when he was younger he would dream of owning this car to go sailing through the sky. A freedom that was not available to him. Now a days, the idea of a flying car are much more feasible, but in 1968 this was a mere fantasy. Although not the coolest car around, this really did open the doors and imaginations of many children and adults back in the day. Plus it had Dick Van Dyke, and everyone loved him. So for those of you who remember Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and were singing the song as you read this blog, chime in and lets hear your feelings and early childhood memories of this movie magic car. So, until next week when I continue my ever-growing list of cars, enjoy.
